Giving Back with a Fundraiser for the Philippines

In the wake of the devastation left behind by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines last month, Premier Mounts hosted a fundraiser to raise contributions for the Red Cross relief efforts overseas. Haiyan is now known as the deadliest Philippine typhoon on record, setting death tolls above 5,700 in that region of Southeast Asia alone. The typhoon, now recorded as the 4th largest in terms of wind speed, proved catastrophic in the Visayan Island portion of the Philippines, affecting and displacing close to 11 million people.

For those of us who saw the horrifying images, sitting aside was an impossible task. And as we did during Hurricane Sandy on our own shores in  2012, Premier Mounts was quick to jump to the assistance in any way we could. Outside of major donations and blood drives while out of the office, we designated a donation fund jar in our reception lobby to give employees the chance to give any extra money they could. Be The Change was designed to make every cent count, and whatever proceeds were donated were matched by our Executive Management Team for the maximum contribution possible to deliver to the Philippine Red Cross.

We govern our relationship with the world the way we govern our relationship with our team members as well as our customers: we take care of one another. In a few short days, we were able to raise over $650 from our Fullerton, CA office alone. This goes to show that even “change” can make a change.
